Here are some ideas for outings and fun things for the week of October 14 to 20:


  • Jul 2-Oct 15: Farmers Market @ Triwood Community Association (2244 Chicoutimi Dr NW) 3-7pm. Runs every Tuesday throughout the summer.
  • October 14 - 20 (times vary - see link): The Imaginairium by Wordfest – a multiple venues, take in ten lively days of workshops, readings and performances as the Imaginairium by Wordfest returns with 76 artists at 56 events. There is a mixture of free and paid events on the site. Check it out:

  • October 17 (7:00pm): ISA Third Thursdays - At Buchanan's Chop House & Whiskey Bar (738 3 Ave SW), the International Screenwriters Association has a new, monthly gathering taking place in Calgary. On third Thursday of every month, you can mix and mingle with screenwriters, enter to win door prizes and hear from special guests.

  • October 18 (5:00pm): Masquerade Gala: One Year Anniversary - At Art and Design Galleries (750 3 St SW), Art Space and Design Galleries will celebrate it's one year anniversary with a fundraiser in support of Indefinite Arts Centre, Canada's largest and oldest disability arts centre. Admission is free, but RSVP in advance. For more information:

  • October 19 (10:00am-4:00pm): Beacon Original Art Annual Fall Show & Sale - Bridgeland-Riverside Association is hosting a traditional fall show and sale. You can park, attend and enter draws for free. There will be paintings, jewellery, glass, photography, ceramics, sculpture and textiles.



  • Calgary Farmyard (Formerly Calgary Corn Maze) -  a fun place to go for all, about 10 mins southeast of Calgary. For more information on what's going on each week: Admission: online: $14.95, gate: $16.95
  • October 17 (8:00pm): K. Trevor Wilson – At the Laugh Shop at Hotel Blackfoot, this comedian has been on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Comedy Central's Roast Battle. Admission: $8-10
  • October 18-19 (varying times - see link): Calgary Tattoo and Arts Festival - At the BMO Centre, there will be over 450 local and international tattoo artists over the course of this 3 day festival. For more information: $25-50
  • October 15 (6:45pm): Calgary Spanish Film Festival – At Globe Cinema, there is the first ever Calgary Spanish Film Festival. Admission: $8-10
  • October 18 (7:00pm): Alberta Spotlight: Calvin Love  - at Studio Bell (850 4 St SE), lo-fi pop romantic Calvin Love will put his distinct strain of retro-futurism on full display as he performs as part of the Alberta Spotlight series at the National Music Centre. Admission: $10-15
  • October 18 (8:00pm): Adults Only Halloween Movie Night - Crossroads Community Association is hosting a spooky night of fun for adults. The main attraction is a screening of John Carpenter's iconic The Thing, but there will also be a cash concession, raffle draw and prize for best costume. Please bring your own chair or form of seating. Admission: $5-7
  • October 18 (8:00pm-9:00pm): Underground Improv -  At The Lab (922 9 Ave SE), Baby Tee Rex and Cracked Mirror demonstrate their own unique spin on the art and craft of improv theatre. . Admission: $8 (online)-10 (door) For tickets and more information:
  • October 19 (8:00pm): Nonsense & Sensibility with Squadball feat. Necessary Elvis - At The Rose Room (922 9 Ave SE), there will be a double feature improv night that will pay homage to Jane Austen and the wonderful world of friendship. Admission: $12-15
  • October 19 (9:00pm): Shred Kelly - At King Eddy (438 9 Ave SE), the closest genre you can label Shred Kelly is alternative folk music. Admission: $15-20
  • October 20 (9:30am-4:00pm): Calgary Music Collectors Show -  At Acadia Recreation Complex, all music enthusiasts will be happy! Browse 65 vendors, win door prizes, listen to DJs and have your records appraised for free. Admission: 5-10
